BEFORE I START, LET THIS BE CLEAR THAT I AM NOT SIDING ANYONE'S SIDE AND I'M NOT BIAS TOWARDS PEOPLE WITH OR WITHOUT HIGH EDUCATION. peace:D
Okay so this is regarding my previous post about Passerby's reply through my tagboard. Alrites okay to passerby, yes I agree that paper qualification is of one of the most important thing that we must have now.
Especially in this fast paced modern world where employers just check on your previous qualification by browsing through your resume which states your level of education. The higher the qualification, the better chance of getting the job and progressing well. In Singapore, anything less than a Diploma is shun by the majority of people. (you yourself readers know that, we unconciously(or not) stereotype people like for example, hey look at that dude, he's gna be a failure but that dude is gna be a non-failure...don't lie to yourself, you do it sometimes, I admit I do it sometimes too....)
So every morning since we enrol in a nursery till we mature in secondary school, we say a pledge and I quote "
based on justice and equality "
Equality. If we are based on equality, why does teacher B gets to be paid higher eventhough teacher A is doing the same job as teacher B? Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against people with degrees or what nots, I love the idea of people pursuing studies up and beyond degrees, but are we that
selfish to be segregated from the rest?
Now, don't lie to yourself, cause we all know this as an open secret. All the best(smart) students are put together into one class and the average ones are in the same class and the not so smart vice versa. Now if you ever took a step back and observe properly, the teachers in the "smart" student's class are the teachers that are somewhat the best in the school. And the less good ones are pushed to those average classes..
What I'm trying to say is that in some schools, the school is nurturing their best students very well and giving them the much needed tutoring that they MUST have as well as tones of opportunity while the average and not so smart classes are just given the basics.WE have brains and eyes to notice that, we're just wasting our time if we bring this matter up to our form teachers, 'cause the teachers are trained very well(apparently) at covering up the school's ass. (yes im ready to be flamed by my readers so go ahead, im just merely saying what i feel about the system)
I admit that I was from the average classes, and I can tell you that most of my teachers are one of the best teachers I've ever had, mainly because they are dedicated teachers who are very much willing to help students who are academically inclined. HOWEVER, there are some teachers that just give up along the way and just concentrate on those hopeful students in the class.(we all know this for a fact...)
OKAY SO BACK TO PASSERBY, okae so you said if I don't have paper qualification, my job will be based on skill. so umm, hello, did you open up the classifieds recruits section? most of them will require a minimum of diploma or what nots. So how do we(people with not so good qualifications, yes im one of them) get the job in the first place?
LET me just be clear that im not upset about myself not being academically gifted than my friends and colleagues, I'm very much doing well with my business despite holding just an O level cert,for now. I'm just trying to stand up for those people who's hopes and dreams are crushed just because they hold a mere psle/n lvl/o lvl/ite cert.
I've known many people who are great people and are very skilled in their field but then sadly, they're not recognised just because they don't have those damn paper qualifications.
ALRITES, imagine this. You are the BIG BOSS of for example, a company that does electronics and you're recruiting people. so lets say Person A has a diploma and also a degree in electrical engineering. however Person B is just your average joe who has only an o level cert. So as you're flipping through your resume, you see this two person. Who would you pick? Obviously Person A right?
BUT here's the thing, you don't know that in actual, Person B is a very highly respected person in the field and is an expert with years of experience, and Person A is actually a fumbling bugger who doesnt do his job properly and is not well liked by his previous peers for fucking up shit.
How would you know in the first place who to pick?
